Shades of Love

So just the other day, a friend of mine asked me if it was hard to tell my parents about being in an interacial relationship. As far as my parents go, no it was actually pretty easy, my mom is currently in an interacial marriage. But as I continued to talk to her she told me she was nervous about telling her father. And I guess for all of us there is those few family members who you no won't accept it, but there are strangers also. I'm not blind, and even with how common interacial relationships seem to be on the outside, there are plenty of looks that people give you when you go to restaurants, parks, schools, even stores. And I'm not just talking about black and white relationships, there are other combinations also. And it also isn't always the man who is black either, there are black women who find their soul-mate in a white man and all I have to say is go get em ladies. Don't let people's opinions tell you what your heart can feel. I am madly in love with my fiance and I couldn't be happier and in a perfect world there wouldn't be looks or snickers, but it is constantly worth it to be with the man of your dreams.

Love, Amanda
